We now have another 60,000 coffee trees in our Nursery to meet demand and to be planted out in September 2009 to complement our existing 25,000 fully established coffee trees. The coffee seedlings are looking very healthy at this stage and after planting we hope to start getting coffee from them in 2012. They are the same Arabica variety we have planted at the moment to keep with our current award winning roasts.

About the Coffee Plantation |
The coffee plantation is a 100% family owned and operated Australian business. Under the watchful eyes of directors Nat and Linda Jaques (second generation coffee growers), the plantation is being managed by their sons Jason and Robert Jaques (third generation coffee growers). The Jaques Coffee Plantation is situated on the Cairns Highlands (Atherton Tablelands), with a beautiful backdrop looking over the surrounding peaks of the Great Dividing Range. Along side the spring waters of Emerald Creek the plantation is furnished with 25,000 young and fully producing Arabica Coffee trees on rich soils, boasting a smooth and vibrant flavor unique only to our remarkable location. The plantation is expanding at a steady rate with another 60,000 coffee trees to be coming into production by 2012. With the increase in demand and the production base of Jaques Coffee we have recently upgraded our Wet Mill, Dry Mill and Coffee Dryer with the latest equipment from Costa Rica. The new machinery is a pleasure to operate and is a high quality replacement for our old faithful (sometimes painfully slow) retired equipment which Jason is going to make into coffee equipment exhibits for the visitor centre. |

The Worlds First Coffee Harvester |
The Worlds First Coffee Harvester lives at Jaques Coffee Plantation, Australia. Developed in the early 1980's by Nat Jaques and NQEA Before the early 80's coffee was hand picked all around the world and still is in many third world countries. Nat Jaques with a team of Engineers from NQEA ship builders in Cairns teamed up to create a machine that would revolutionise the way coffee would be picked forever. "Coffee Shuttle One" evolved from the drawing board using many idea's from a modified grape picker prototype Nat had experimented with. The Coffee harvester was then built in 1983 and is still in operation today. Original Promo Video for Jaques Coffee Shuttle One NQEA - 1980's |
